Arab film posters
This project involves archiving a private collector’s rare and valuable historic Arabic cinema posters. Expertly curated and photographed, the collection showcases the evolution of movie marketing and design, capturing the beauty and cultural significance of these iconic posters for future generations to appreciate.
The challenging and enjoyable project involved shooting and archiving around 8,000 Arab film posters, including 200 original paintings by Jussoor, a renowned painter who was heavily influenced and pushed forward Arabic cinema by producing and printing thousands of movie posters.
Completed in four months, the project was carried out in five stages: receiving and sorting the posters, preparing them for photography, capturing the images using a Hasselblad H4D 60 PM and Broncolor Light, packaging and delivering the posters, and processing the images for delivery on two hard disks. It was a rewarding experience to work with such a significant collection of cultural artifacts.
