Poltrona Frau is an Italian furniture company that specializes in high-end, luxury furniture. The company was founded in 1912 by Renzo Frau and initially produced handcrafted leather seats and sofas for automobiles. Over time, Poltrona Frau expanded its product line to include furniture for homes, offices, and public spaces. The company is known for its sophisticated and elegant designs, which combine traditional Italian craftsmanship with modern materials and technology. Poltrona Frau’s furniture pieces are often found in luxury hotels, restaurants, and private residences around the world.
Furniture as pieces of art
Their furniture pieces are known for their attention to detail, exquisite craftsmanship, and use of high-quality materials such as leather, wood, and metal. Poltrona Frau furniture is designed to be timeless, elegant, and functional, with a focus on comfort and durability.
One of their most iconic pieces is the “Vanity Fair” armchair, designed by Renzo Frau in 1930. The armchair features a curved, padded backrest and armrests, and is upholstered in soft leather.
I approached each piece not just as a functional item but as a work of art in its own right. I took my time to study the lines, curves, and materials used in each design, capturing the unique characteristics that make each piece special. By highlighting the intricate details and craftsmanship that goes into each item, I aimed to convey the true essence of the brand and their commitment to creating furniture that is not just functional but also visually stunning.
By capturing these pieces in a way that emphasizes their beauty and artistry, I hope to inspire viewers to see them as more than just furniture, but as objects of design and beauty.
